Q.930 / Q.931

The Q.930/Q.931 portable software product provides the signaling protocol needed to establish, maintain and release circuit-switched connections across an ISDN network.

The Q.930/Q.931 software supports the ITU-T and other variants of the protocol. The Q.930/Q.931 software provides the following basic capabilities:

  • Establishes network connections
  • Maintains network connections
  • Terminates network connections
  • Routes and relays signaling messages
  • Provides error detection and recovery
  • Segments and reassembles signaling messages where required
  • Provides congestion control for user-to-user signaling
  • Negotiates bearer service assignment and capability
  • Provides call progress indications
  • Supports supplemental services
  • Supports non-facility associated signaling
  • Provides D-channel backup procedures
  • Supports non-call associated signaling
  • Supports hold and retrieve mechanism
  • Supports suspend and resume procedures
  • Supports point-to-multipoint connectivity for BRI users

  • Provides interworking with the Protocol Specific Interface Function (PSIF). Refer to the PSIF – Q.930/Q.931 Functional Specification and theInterworking Call Control Functional Specification.
