An Internet Offload / Traffic Offload Gateway is flexible in its deployment options and is applicable to both LTE and 3G wireless networks.

Internet Offload / Traffic Offload Gateways are deployed at the edge, connecting via the IuPS (3G) or S1 (LTE) interfaces and associated control plane protocols. Based on application identification, pre-provisioned policy decisions result in traffic either being forwarded to the core network or else “offloaded” directly to the Internet without entering the wireless core network.
