RoHS Compliance
RadiSys Strategy for RoHS Compliance
RadiSys is committed to protecting the global environment and to providing RoHS compliant products in accordance with the European RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC that is effective July 1, 2006. Specific plans are being implemented across select product lines. These specific plans are dependent upon the supply chain availability of RoHS compliant components and are matched to the requirements of the Directive by application/market usage and customer requirements. Product changes may include changes to compliant components, re-designs to accept compliant components and manufacturing process changes to eliminate lead in solder. Contact your RadiSys representative if you have questions about specific products.
Definition of RoHS Compliant (RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC January 2003)
Components or products are RoHS compliant (6/6) when they do not contain hazardous substances above the Maximum Concentration Values (MCVs) for any homogeneous material. The six RoHS hazardous substances are: Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE).
Definition of Maximum Concentration Values
For the purposes of the RoHS Regulations, a maximum concentration value of up to 0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials for lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE and of up to 0.01% by weight in homogenous materials for cadmium will be permitted in products supplied to RadiSys.
Definition of 6/6 RoHS Compliant
A product is 6/6 RoHS compliant when the 6 hazardous substances do not exceed maximum concentration values.
Definition of 5/6 RoHS Compliant
A product is 5/6 RoHS compliant when a lead exemption is used for components and the solder alloy, and the remaining 5 hazardous substances do not exceed maximum concentration values.
Definition of Excluded from RoHS (0/6)
Products are excluded from RoHS compliance when they fall into categories 8 (medical) and 9 (monitoring and control). All 6 substances can exceed the maximum concentration values.
