November 29, 2000

MP3 player added to the Software Updates page:

This is a derivative work of the MP3 library from the mpg123 player, specifically the 0.59r version. The home page for the player is http://mpg123.org/ This software is under the GPL license. The GPL.TXT file included with this software explains the license. Michael Hipp the author of the mpg123 player may still be doing licenses other than GPL.

Please see the Using the MP3 Player Version 3.2.6 PDF file (mpgmp3_using.pdf) from the download file for usage information.

SPE509

  • Edition #35 - CF2733: Add the user access check before doing memory copy in the GS_HWSTAT function in entry.c

  • Edition #36 - Added invalidate flush call to process_rx_boomerang. load_tmd_dma now flushes xmit_priv ring. Added two bytes to mb_m_offset for aligment on BOOMERANG (DMA). No DMA aligment issue.

  • Edition #37 - Added two bytes to mb_m_offset for aligment on BOOMERANG (DMA). No DMA aligment issue.

  • Edition #38 - Addd USE_MEM_NOCACHE option for Non-Cache colored memory support for DMA RINGS (BOOMERANG ONLY) Flush changed to flush only mtod area. (NOTE: X86 does not require cache flusing.. ARM support etc.)

LLE509

  • Edition #23 - Added FIXED_MEMORY_ADDRESS and RINGS_NON_CACHED options for use with the DMA BOOMERANG version of the driver. FIXED_MEMORY_ADDRESS may be defined to a non-cached region of memory. RINGS will then be located in this region. The RINGS_NON_CACHED define should also be defined to force only MBUF's to be flushed. Added PCI_VECTOR_OFFSET define. (NOTE: NON-X86 specific update)

SPPRO100 - (INTEL Ethernet PRO100 series [82557/558/559])

  • Edition #8 - All memory buffers are now allocated in one chunk. Added colored memory support for non-cached rings. The MEMORY_COLOR option may be added to the device descriptor to define the color of a 128kb block that may be used for non-cached DMA usage.

  • Edition #9 Changes to support MIPS

LLPRO100

  • Edition #8 - All memory buffers are now allocated in one chunk. Added fixed memory address support for non-cached rings. The FIXED_MEMORY_ADDRESS option may be added to define the 128kb block of physical memory that may be used for non-cached DMA usage.

  • Edition #9 - Changes to support MIPS. Handle receive overrun in proto_read.

Updated the X86 Ethernet updates under the Software Updates page:

LL79C961 (edition #2) - Deregister notification handler and return memory on hw_setup failed. Fixed SS_RombugOff to honor previous state.

LL8139 (edition #3) - Deregister notification handler and return memory on hw_setup failed. Fixed SS_RombugOff to honor previous state.

LLPRO100

  • Edition #6 - Added mbuff copy to correct IP header alignment for processors who can't handle it misaligned.

  • Edition #7 - Fixed SS_RombugOff to honor previous state. Fail in hw_setup will now free ROM memory allocated and de-registers notification handler Added EARLY_RX|FLOW_CTL to CU_START in chip.c

LLNE2000 (edition #5)

  • Added register offset handling.
  • Added support for more PCI versions of the NE2000 card.
  • Return error on get_eaddr fail. Improved XMIT performance

SPNE2000 (edition #10)

  • Added MULTICASTING support.
  • Added support for more PCI versions of NE2000 card.
  • USE_PCI_TABLE must be defines as well as the '-c' option must be added to spfdrvr.mak file.
  • Removed use of supply mbuf in isr.
  • Return error on get_eaddr fail. Improved XMIT performance.
  • xfr_io_to_nil to purge data in receive buffer when get_mbuf fails.
  • Added BIG_ENDIAN support.
  • Added sysglobs, flush support entry and ROM info structure 'rinf' access. Hardware ROM timer used when overflow interrupt is called.

  • Updated the X86 Ethernet updates under the Software Updates page:

    SP79C961 (edition #04) - Added Multicast support. ISR now forced to page CSR0. IB_MODE now honored in init.c

    LL79C961 - NEW - LAN79C961/AM79C973 support. Edition #1

    SP21140 (edition #33) - Copy the received Data, if no more (large) Mbufs available. This will help SoftStax to keep alive. PCI_IO_MAPPED option added to init.c

    llcis, pcmcia (edition #14) - Added support for Symbol Spectrum24 wireless PC LAN card. NOTE: The driver for the Symbol Spectrum24 is only available in the 802.11 package.

  • Removed the NetFront plug-in added previously. It is now included on the product CD.
  • Added new API Help files for Hawk under the Software Updates page.

  • Updated the X86 Ethernet updates under the Software Updates page:

    llcis, pcmcia (edition #13) - Toshiba Laptop problem with CORE value still an issue. Added smarter core value check. Back to seperate window for CIS.

    SPE509 (edition #34) - Don't process receive mbuf if we can not get a new one first.
  • The mwsrcdbg patch has been removed from the Support Updates page. Support has received a few reports of problems setting breakpoints with the new DLLs. These files have been removed until all issues with them are resolved.
Unable to find help file "[FILENAME].HLP".

This is a known issue and will be resolved in a future product release. During the interim, refer to the Microware documentation provided on your product CD-ROM. The documentation is provided in Portable Document Format (PDF) and is viewable using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Users with current support contracts may also check the Software Updates page for available help file patches.

Four new patches have been added in the registered user section of the web site under the Software Updates page.

  • gx_vesa13.zip - This updated version of the VESA (edition 13) driver will work with most Pentium VESA drivers, including AMD, but not Cyrix.

  • hawkupdate_68K.zip - This is a BETA Hawk 2.1 download for 68K only.

  • profilerupdate.zip - This is an updated version of the Hawk Profiler. It is intended to only be used with Hawk 2.X systems. This version requires JAVA™ to be running on your system.

  • netfront_plugins.zip - This is example plug-in code for the NetFront v2.5 package for PowerPC.

In the registered user section of the web site, a few PDF documents under the On-line Documentation were not available. These files have now been made available.


July 10, 2000

Two more updates have been added to the web site. They are both under the protected section of the web site. The first one is in the AppNotes section:

Optimizing Network Settings for the 860T, under the OS-9000 section. This AppNote describes how to optimize network settings for the 860T.

The second update is under the Software Updates section:

The last item is a BLS ethernet update for X86. There have been a few ethernet cards added, and patches made to existing drivers. Because of the extra support, this patch has been added before the next product comes out.


June 29, 2000

Some patches and changes have been made to the Software Updates section:

  • Added new Hawk debugger DLLs for Hawk 2.0 (PPC, SARM, and X86)

  • Added a PPC and SARM patch to redo the Hawk help index, help files, and code snippets

  • Added a X86 patch to update the Hawk help index and code snippets

  • Updated the cpp020lib.zip file. It was compiled for the 020 rather than the CPU32 and was also optomized for a different version of the compiler.

In the Free Resources section, the Hawk 2.0 FAQ has been edited:

  • Added "The debugger-control window (with the "step", "run", "next"... buttons) is empty."

The Support Software Updates page has been updated. It contains two new links. One to PCF ed 82 for 68K which removes the call to RomBug if you tried to write to a write protected disk, and a new Hawk source debug DLL which will get rid of some strange Execution Error messages when you have successfully ran a program.
