At RadiSys we spend a lot of time thinking. Thinking about technology. Thinking about embedded platforms. Thinking about the future of telecommunications. Thinking about our customers − and their customers.

We ask a lot of questions. How will the market evolve? How will technology evolve? What challenges will our customers face in 1 year, 2 years, 3 years…and how do we provide them efficient solutions? How do we take available technology and create the solutions our customers will need in the future? How do we evolve our portfolio to enable the future while maintaining the present? Can we leverage our skills and assets across product lines to create a better solution?

The articles you are about to read reflect that thinking and the answers to those questions. Our Media Servers are enabling operators to offer converged services. Our commercial solutions such as COM Express and Mini-ITX pack incredible computing power in small packages. And our ATCA platforms deliver market leading performance for the next generation of telecom network elements.

How have we done this? With ATCA, we are taking a simple, but elegant approach−top-down and bottom-up. With "top-down" we answer a series of questions. What applications are we trying to enable? What platform requirements are driven by those applications? How will our customers use these platforms to solve their challenges? "Bottom-up" provides the answers to those questions. Does the target application need high bandwidth to enable next generation services? Answer: the industry’s first 10 Gigabit ATCA platform, RadiSys Promentum® ATCA SYS-6010. Does the target application need data to be processed at wirespeed? Answer: our Cavium Networks OCTEON-based AMC-7211(see Need for Wirespeed).

In the future, we’ll continue asking these questions. Our product managers will continue planning a portfolio that meets our customers’ needs−sometimes before the customers even realize they have those needs. Our product managers and CTO office will continue deep engagements with our customers to determine how our products can enable their applications, and to understand the future of our industry. We will continue driving standards to enable RadiSys, our customers, our customers’ customers, and even our competitors to realize the benefits of modular communications platforms.

At RadiSys we spend a lot of time thinking. Thinking about how we can add to your success.
