Radisys and Ethrix Deploy Integrated Mobile Media Server Solution with Planet41 for Emerging India 3G Market

3G mobile video services platform provides economical and flexible 3G-324M video services for Indian mobile operators and their subscribers.

HILLSBORO, Ore. – December 17, 2010 - Radisys® Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), a leading provider of innovative hardware and software platforms for next generation IP-based wireless, wireline and video networks, and Ethrix, a SIP video application partner with Radisys, today announced a collaboration to deploy Radisys’ Integrated Mobile Media Server (IMMS) as part of a complete 3G mobile video services platform at Planet41 Mobi-Venture Ltd. India’s new 3G licensing has created a rush for 3G network deployments, and mobile operators and value-added service (VAS) providers, such as Planet41, are looking to quickly and economically generate optimal service revenues from these networks. The Radisys/Ethrix partnership provides an integrated 3G mobile video services platform that delivers the next-generation video VAS diversity demanded by subscribers along with the economics, scalability and flexibility required by India’s service providers.

“By partnering with Ethrix, we are able to offer VAS providers like Planet41 an integrated 3G services solution that provides a higher-quality mobile video experience, faster time-to-market and rapid revenue generation,” said David Smith, vice president and general manager of the media server market, Radisys. “As mobile VAS service providers and 3G mobile operators enter India’s 3G network market, they can be confident that the Radisys/Ethrix solution will deliver opportunities to lower costs, reduce development efforts and increase revenues, enabling VAS providers to bring mobile video service offerings to market faster while improving customer satisfaction and retention.”

Radisys’ IMMS integrates many mobile media processing features, including integrated 3G-324M video support and an IP-based architecture, for 3G packet and emerging 4G/LTE packet services, into a single, cost-efficient carrier-class network element. Ethrix is a growing innovator in multi-service 3G-324M mobile video services and platforms that enable a broad range of Mobile Interactive Voice and Video Response (IVVR) service applications. Combining the media processing of the Radisys IMMS with an Ethrix SIP video application server results in a robust 3G mobile services platform for India’s mobile VAS providers and 3G mobile operators.

“India is a huge market, growing at 100 million subscribers per year. We’re investing in the Ethrix video services platform with Radisys IMMS to rapidly develop and deploy unique, compelling mobile video applications to meet this growing market demand,” said Somil Gupta, CEO, Planet41 Mobi-Venture Ltd. “Our leadership and competencies in video content and mobile services, combined with this unique solution from Ethrix and Radisys, has positioned Planet41 to achieve business success in delivering 3G mobile services.”
