Introducing Our Integrated Mobile Media Server
An introduction to the RadiSys Integrate Mobile Media Server with Anthony Ambrose, VP and GM of Radisys.
RadiSys’ Integrated Mobile Media Server (IMMS) enhances Mobile Service Providers’ ability to grow 3G and 4G/LTE revenues beyond flat-rate data plans.
As 3G Evolves, Will You?
Thousands of 3G and emerging 4G/LTE users will be expecting conversational 2-way video services such as video calling, multimedia conferencing, personalized video ringback tones, video mail and interactive voice and video response (IVVR). Will You Be Ready?
RadiSys IMMS is a packet-based service delivery system that offers scale economies to enhance Mobile Service Providers’ ability to generate profitable mobile service revenues beyond flat-rate data plans. The IMMS delivers two-way and N-way conversational video services, while also enhancing one-way streaming services, thereby shifting the point of service monetization back into the Mobile Service Providers’ domain. In addition, by consolidating disparate service processing equipment into a single, cost-efficient carrier-class network element, the IMMS will reduce the overall costs for mass market deployment of 3G and 4G/LTE mobile services. BE RIGHT. NOW.

Integrated Mobile Media Server
RadiSys’ IMMS was designed to overcome the costs and operational limits for mass market deployment of conversational audio/video mobile services by consolidating disparate service processing equipment into a single, cost-efficient carrier-class network element. IMMS is a service delivery system that supports both circuit-based and packet-based mobile video networks, supports both RTSP streaming and interactive RTP services, and delivers interoperability between various mobile access technologies, codecs and file formats. IMMS Release 1.0 is based on our Convedia CMS-9000 Media Server a carrier class Multi-media Resource Function (MRF) for IMS core architectures supporting both 3G and 4G/LTE networks.
IMMS integrates many mobile media processing features including the following:
- Integrated 3G-324M video support for reliable 3G circuit-based conversational video services
- IP-based architecture, for 3G packet and emerging 4G/LTE packet services
- Mobile audio codec, video codec, and file format support
- RTSP audio streaming
- Mobile Interactive Voice and Video Response (IVVR)
- Mobile video ringback services
- Mobile video advertisement insertion (using video text overlay)
- Mobile handset support for iPhoneTM, Google Nexus One, AndroidTM, Nokia N900, HTC, etc.

3G-324M Support
RadiSys’ implementation of 3G-324M support overcomes the obstacles of expensive 3G-324M video gateway solutions that are up to 10x the cost of traditional VoIP voice gateways. IMMS essentially eliminates the need for 3G-324M video gateways, and terminates 3G-324M video circuits using Telecom Equipment Manufacturers’ (TEMs) existing VoIP voice gateway products. Additionally, the solution transfers the 324M protocol processing inside the media server, consolidating network elements and simplifying network management. By reducing the number of network elements in the call path, the IMMS also improves video quality while reducing call path delay. IMMS with integrated 3G-324M support, operating in conjunction with TEMS’ voice media gateways, eliminates complexity and cost, resulting in a greater than 50% cost savings compared to stand-alone 3G-324M video gateway products. The result is a cost-efficient 3G services architecture for conversational mobile audio/video services, enabling TEMs to offer an improved, cost-efficient architecture to MSPs for mass market deployment.
