Yesterday Intel® launched its new Xeon® Scalable platform with a big launch event that included keynotes, a partner showcase and more. At Radisys, we’ve been working with Intel behind the scenes to add the new Xeon processors to our DCEngine, but I wanted to hear what Intel’s top execs would share about this completely re-architected processor designed for the cloud and delivering the largest performance improvement in a decade.

The CG-OpenRack-19 specification was put under the spotlight at last week’s Open Compute Project (OCP) Telco Workshop, which served as a lead-in session to the Light Reading Big Communications Event. Along with AT&T’s Tom Anschutz, I had the opportunity to lead the discussion at this workshop and educate attendees about the benefits that an open hardware solution brings to the telco industry. Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to the Netherlands for the annual SDN & OpenFlow World Congress. Contrasting this year’s event with years past, 2016 felt much more mature. Where once presentation audiences were mostly comprised of other speakers, this year the rooms were filled with attendees, including communications service providers and vendors, who were there solely to learn.
