We’ve recently posted a series of informative videos that provide a snapshot of Radisys’ technology direction for the coming year.
CTO Manish Singh provides insight into how Radisys enables Carrier Cloud, Rich Communication Services. He also shares details on our small cell and LTE-Advanced rollouts. Manish also participated on a panel with SK Telecom and SK Telesys, and this video shares the collective experience of delivering the world’s first public access LTE small cell network. Our VP and General Manager of Platforms, Keate Despain, also talks about the importance of the emerging Telecom Cloud.
All of these technologies are featured in our video, End-to-End LTE Network Technology Showcase:
• LTE Small Cell demonstration
• Telecom Cloud demonstration
• Media Resource Function (MRF) demonstration
In addition, the new videos in our Partner Video Series look at the joint solutions that Radisys has developed with Mindspeed, Octasic and Wind River.
I encourage you to check out all of these videos at http://www.radisys.com/videos/. Let us know what technology advancement you’re most excited about in the comments section below.
If you want to learn more about the interworkings of wireless network elements, there’s an app for that.
We are very proud to share that our world-famous Trillium Poster app is now free to download from the iTunes store. This iPad app brings our world-famous Trillium® Poster to life as a one-stop, interactive resource that shows how wireless network elements connect with one another.
From the home page via the iPad touchscreen, you can tap on which type of network diagram you would like to explore, including Long Term Evolution (LTE), LTE Advanced (LTE-A), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Small Cell and Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA). From within each network diagram, you can then tap individual components to retrieve definitions and additional visual representations.
We’ve included illustrations of standards-based network elements, interfaces and protocol stacks for a variety of technology architectures. Some cool features include access to more than 145 network interfaces; an extensive industry glossary of acronyms; portrait and landscape orientation; pinching/zooming of network maps; a new video section; and the most cutting-edge LTE and small cell content.
By developing the Trillium Poster as an app we’re able to offer you this powerful, educational tool in a valuable format. We’ve had tens of thousands of executives, engineers, journalists, analysts and students worldwide already attest to the advantage of the Trillium Poster in wall chart form. Now, we hope you’ll take it with you wherever you go.

Fierce Innovation Awards recognize the innovative companies and products that are defining the future of the broadband communications industry. Finalists were selected by an exclusive panel of carrier-only judges including Stephen Bye, CTO and VP of Technology Development & Strategy at Sprint; Mattias Fridstrom, VP and Head of Technology at TeliaSonera International; Abhi Ingle, VP of Ecosystem and Innovation at AT&T; Tom Nagel, SVP of Business Development & Strategy, for Communications & Data Services at Comcast Cable; Todd Smith, Director of Media Relations at Cox Communications; and Jim Wales, Executive Director of Networks at Verizon.
We are honored to be recognized by such a prestigious group of mobile operators for our small cell solution that eases their transition from 3G to LTE.
To date, traditional software approaches have lacked the level of integration required to truly change the economics of LTE small cell deployment, forcing telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs) and operators to invest in their own R&D to complete the solution. TOTALeNodeB dramatically simplifies the development and integration of LTE small cells, enabling TEMs to reduce their development time in half.
TOTALeNodeB began international deployment earlier this year as part of the industry’s first LTE Femtocell, launched by Korea Telecom. We are also working with customers on additional deployments in Korea, Japan and the UK, and we’re excited to see continued traction around the world as customers partner with us to streamline their transitions to LTE.

We are excited to share that Radisys has been shortlisted for two “Best of 4G” awards by the 4G World 2012 Conference and Expo. 4G World created the awards program four years ago to recognize companies driving innovation and the adoption of 4G mobile broadband. Innovation was behind both of our entries that have been named Best of 4G Finalists—the MPX-12000 which enables operators to monetize media flows while delivering 3-10x audio and video capacity improvements, and the patent pending RMS-220 which is the industry’s first network appliance to combine high performance, high flexibility and serviceability in a 2U high 20-inch deep platform.
Joe Braue, General Manager of 4G World and Executive Vice President at UBM TechWeb said “Entries received in this year’s program have yet again raised the bar.”
The Radisys team works closely with our customers to develop products and solutions that address the key challenges they face in the transition to 4G, and it’s our team’s focused commitment to customer success that engineered these honored products.
We’re looking forward to attending the 4G World 2012 Awards Reception on Monday, October 29 to meet with fellow innovators also up for an award and to celebrate our mutual success. Together, we are enabling the rapid development and deployment of 4G technologies.
If you plan to visit 4G World in Chicago this October 29-November 1, we hope you’ll stop by our booth #432 to meet our team and learn more about our end-to-end mobile network solutions.
Recently, Radisys CTO Manish Singh sat down with ThinkSmallCell‘s David Chambers to talk about the current and future outlook for the small cell market. We’re well positioned to provide expert analysis given our history of developing cutting-edge small cell solutions for both 3G and LTE deployments.
Read the in-depth Q&A to learn what operators are requesting of Radisys, how the adoption of LTE compares to 3G and where Wi-Fi fits into the picture.
