Exploding Demand For Bandwidth

In today's fast-paced communications industry, exploding demand for bandwidth is the norm, and reducing time-to-market is not a “nice–to–have.” This growth in demand for high–bandwidth applications — from mobile video applications such as interactive TV, video mail, and video conferencing to Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) — is driving Service Providers to build out their roadmaps for next–generation networks and, in turn, pushing Network Equipment Providers (NEPs) to be able to deliver as soon as possible.

To date, NEPs have been able to leverage 10G AdvancedTCA application–ready platforms from the COTS ecosystem to reduce their time–to–market and costs, as well as lower their development risk. As the industry looks to transition from 10G to 40G to support higher bandwidth applications, NEPs must be able to make their 40G technology decisions today and be ready to ship thereafter.
