The Radisys SIPware Event Conferencing solution is a next-generation approach for delivering a cost-effective, feature-rich event conferencing service that can support up to several thousand participants in a conference.

The Radisys SIPware Event Conferencing solution is a next-generation approach for delivering a cost-effective, feature-rich event conferencing service that can support up to several thousand participants in a conference. Based on a pure IP implementation, it can be readily deployed network-wide through SIP-enabled media gateways or VoIP networks. SIPware Event Conferencing offers service providers a complete, off-the-shelf solution for delivering profitable conferencing services—rapidly and cost-effectively.

Large-scale Event Conferencing Made Easy

The Radisys SIPware Event Conferencing solution provides the scalability needed to serve the largest business customers. Service providers can set up and manage large, event-driven conference calls with ease. A single event conference can scale to more than 3,000 participants, providing the scalability needed to dependably serve the largest corporate customers.

Sets New Scalability Benchmarks for IP-based Conferencing

SIPware Conference Calling runs on the RapidFLEX™ Service Delivery Platform (SDP)—the key to the scalability of the total solution. The RapidFLEX SDP manages call states and media streams, while the SIPware Event Conferencing application maintains conference state, manages IVR interactions, accesses conference metadata, provides operator control and manages Q&Amp;A in a well orchestrated framework. This enables the solution to readily support up to 50,000 participants at once in a single location node.

Reduced Costs

A pure IP solution, the SIPware Event Conferencing solution eliminates expensive, dedicated TDM conference bridges. SIP Peering can be utilized to take advantage of the lowest possible long distance costs, dramatically reducing participant dial-in costs.

Delivering a unique set of advantages for service providers.

A Complete IP Voice Service Solution

Radisys provides a complete solution for deploying revenue-generating IP voice services in converged TDM/IP and end-to-end VoIP networks. Based on our open, extensible and highly scalable RapidFLEX Service Delivery Platform and Convedia Media Server, the Radisys solution includes an expanding suite of turnkey SIPware services—or create your own innovative services using the Radisys RapidFLEX Service Creation Environment.

Complete Solution

The Radisys SIPware Event Conferencing solution includes the telephony service logic (IVR), web-based subscriber portal for creation and account management, subscriber database management including PIN number creation and authentication, audio mixing using an IP media server and support for output of a customizable Customer Detail Record (CDR).

Powerful Conference Control on a Single Screen

The Radisys Event Conference Manager (ECM) is a sophisticated, PC-based conference-management software program for operators handling large-scale conferences. It allows operators to easily provision and manage conferences, handle operator requests and participant arrivals and assist participants during Q&Amp;A sessions. Flyout windows enable operators to view information about conferences, participants, bells, prelists and Q&Amp;A requests all on one screen—eliminating the need to toggle between windows.

Extensive Failover and Recovery Schemes

Redundant components of the Radisys SIPware Event Conferencing solution eliminate single points of failure throughout the architecture. RapidFLEX Application Servers can be configured either N+1 with standard failover software to maintain overall system capacity, or 1+1 with Radisys CallComplete™ high-availability software. CallComplete maintains conference state in the event of a primary Application Server failure without any interruption to the conference call participants. For service providers looking to deploy in multiple locations, Radisys InService™ high availability software can maintain service levels across the sites by utilizing resources between the sites in the event of component or entire site-wide failure.

Managing a Conference

  • View a list of conferences
  • Automatic refresh of conference and participant information
  • Search for a conference
  • Open a conference

Generating a Snapshot Report

  • Generate a snapshot report for each conference providing general info about the conference and its participants
  • View/print a snapshot report

Global Commands-For improved performance, operations that apply to the entire conference are controlled globally, including:

  • Mute all
  • Conference all
  • Music all
  • Hook conference
  • Start conference
  • Disconnect all

Q&A Requests-The Q&A functionality in the ECM allows participants to request to speak in the conference and aids in managing these requests. Operators can enable and disable Q&A functionality and prioritize, grant and deny speaking requests.

Changing Participant Priority-Each Q&A participant entering the queue is assigned a default priority to determine the order for servicing Q&A requests. This priority can be changed easily and quickly.

Anonymous Q&A-Enables an operator to identify conference participants by a unique Line Identifier. During Q&A, the operator places this participant in CO mode and identifies the participant by the Line Identifier. The Line Identifier displays with the participant name on the ASN, Conference Detail, Conference Q&A and Participant Detail screens. The Line Identifier does not change when moving a participant:

  • Between conferences within a single site
  • Between a conference and sub-conference and back again
  • From a speaker sub-conference to the participant conference

VIP Priority Queue

Host Control feature that enables conference hosts managing the Q&A queue to promote participants beyond the highest priority level when there are multiple participants in the Q&A queue with the highest priority.

Role Labels for Conference Callers-The ECM allows assigning "role" labels to conference callers. Labels are informational only and not considered when performing any actions. Users can view roles in the Conference Detail screen or in the Snapshot Report, with the ability to sort by role. Role labels include:

  • Speaker (SPK)
  • Moderator (MOD)
  • Comm Line (COM)-Sub Conference
  • Participant (PAR)
  • Chairperson (CHR)
  • Facilitator (FAC)
  • Clearance (CLR)
    • API call for retrieving the participant list
    • API for provisioning conferences
    • API providing for real-time management of conferences
    • Host Control-API interface for providing hosts of an event conference with a real-time view of the conference, including participants in the main conference and participants in Q&A, allowing them (with limited controls) to modify priorities of participants who have raised their hand to ask a question.
  • Active Speaker Notification-Current speaker is highlighted in web interface, viewable by moderators and participants logged in.
  • Conference Record-Scheduled conferences can be recorded for later playback. Conference record can also be enabled by the TUI or the web-based conference control GUI.
  • Music on Hold-Play music to callers while waiting to join a conference or when put on hold by the moderator.
  • Name Record and Playback-Record caller names and give the moderator a voice menu option to hear a roll call of all participants.
  • Stopping a Conference-Stopping a conference within ECM does not end the conference; it turns on global music so that all non-speaker participants hear music, and places the speakers and operator into the speaker sub-conference. Stopped conferences can be restarted.
  • Hooking a Conference-Hooking (ending) a conference disconnects all participants and disables the conference so that no new participants can join. Hooked conferences cannot be restarted.
  • Searching for a Conference Participant-Users can search for participants by first and/or last name and company, using the search toolbar in the ECM Conference Management window.
  • Dial-in conference mode configurability by access number
  • Direct dial into conference as a speaker or participant-no passcode required, access number determines conference. Everyone is allowed in.
  • Participant is prompted for a passcode
  • Operator greeting for speaker and participant
  • Welcome prompt
  • Default audio mode of the participant (Muted, Music on Hold, Speak)

Escort Feature-Enables a CSR to "escort" a participant into the conference and introduce participant to existing conference participants. The Escort feature is also available when performing Answer Op Requests, participant recalls, Access Line for participants and when moving a participant from one conference to another.

Operator Control of Participant Audio in Sub-Conferences-Enables the operator to modify the audio mode of participants in Comm, Clearance and Speaker Sub-conferences.
